Standard General English

This course is learner-centred to develop communication skills & learning strategies. The general English courses have a cultural component to give clients an insight into Irish culture and the Irish way of life. Intensive English Course

This course has the same content as the standard course but includes an extra 6 hours to intensify the learning experience and focus on practical communication skills. Executive and Professional Course

Designed for professionals (minimum age 23) who wish to achieve maximum progress, ACET’s one-week Executive and Professional Course focuses on the essential language skills to perform in today’s competitive and global environment.

Lessons: 30 x 55 mins / week (25 + 5 lunch time hours)
Levels: Intermediate+
Max students: 6 (average 4)
Age: 23+

One-to-One

Students can choose any number of hours to suit their specific needs. Courses start every Monday and continue for any number of weeks. ACET will design a course appropriate for the student with his or her individual needs and objectives in mind.

ACET Professional Work Experience Internship Programme

The professional work experience programme is designed for students who want to improve their language skills while also gaining experience in an English-speaking workplace. ACET arranges placements with suitable companies and students benefit from the opportunity to improve their English and their career prospects, as well as their knowledge and experience. The programme includes 4 weeks of tuition plus 2-6 weeks placement. Students must have a minimum level of Intermediate.

Junior Summer Programme

ACET offers excellent quality mixed nationality Junior English Language Programmes for individuals and groups aged 11-16 during the month of July using the facilities of University College Cork. The programme on the campus of UCC offers both homestay and modern on-campus residential accommodation. Course duration is from 2 to 4 weeks.

University College Cork is situated on 44 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds only 5 minutes from Cork city centre and has excellent on-campus accommodation and sports facilities for students. Facilities include: large canteen for all meals, indoor swimming pool, indoor gymnasiums, tennis courts, a running track and several outdoor football pitches.

Junior Year Round Programmes/ Study Tours

Packages include 15 tuition hours (55 minutes per tuition hour) per week, full board accommodation; 5 afternoon activities, books & materials; 1 full day excursion; end of course certificate; wireless internet access in the school; transfers from/to the airport; 1 free leader per 15 students.

These programmes allow all members of the family to discover Ireland on a family holiday and are run during the month of July. Adult family members attend ACET’s Adult Centre, ages 11-15 years attend ACET’s Junior Centre, and younger members of the family attend an activity camp with Irish children or a crèche. Course duration is between 2 – 4 weeks.

ACET Accommodation

Homestay

Homestay accommodation is on a half board basis from Monday to Friday with breakfast and an evening meal and full board basis (light lunch) during the weekend.
Homes are selected after a visit from the accommodation services administrator. Houses are located in good residential areas of Cork and on a bus route. Students should expect an average of 35 minutes travelling time to ACET.

Student Residence

Copley Court Residence Available all year

Copley Court is located just a 10 minute walk from ACET. Students have a single room with a private bathroom in an apartment, which they share with other students. Each apartment has a fully-equipped kitchen and a living room with a television.

University Hall / Victoria Lodge / Victoria Mills Residence Available June 4 – August 20

University Hall Apartments (30 minutes’ walk or 10 minutes by bus) are available from June to August. Students have a single room in an apartment they share with other students. Each apartment has a fully-equipped kitchen and a living room with a television.

ACET has a Social Programme Organiser who coordinates a varied social programme to give you the opportunity to practice your language skills while making friends from other language backgrounds. They also provide extensive information to help you choose the right activities.
